Supported Employment Program Information
Supported employment is a service that helps consumers find and maintain meaningful employment in the community. Jobs are competitive (pay at least minimum wage) and an individual's skills, interests, and abilities are evaluated in order to successfully match them with an employer's needs.
The following services are available to individuals seeking employment:
* Assessment of vocational skills and interests
* Resume development
* Assistance with the job search process or job creation
* Application assistance
* Initial on-the-job training
* Collaboration with employers
* Ongoing supervision and support
In order to help our consumers reach their employment goals, Chrysalis provides support services that are uniquely tailored to each individual's strengths, abilities, and needs.
Pre-Employment Services:
Consumers meet individually with our Employment Specialists to develop a 'work plan' and begin working towards short and long-term employment goals. Employment Specialists can provide support and/or training for the job search process, resume and cover letter development, application assistance, interview preparation and can provide opportunities for work experience. At Chrysalis, consumers have access to computers for the job search process, resume and cover letter development, and any other employment-related needs.
Employment Services:
Employment Specialists are available to provide intial on-site job coaching. This service is available to all of our consumers and is often beneficial for people who need thorough, hands-on training in order to be succesful with new tasks. Employment |

Specialists are also available to provide assistance with completing paperwork, developing schedules, encouragement, consultation, and any other needs related to a new-hire. Ongoing Services:
Chrysalis offers long-term support to all our consumers, which means that Employment Specialists are avaiable for continuous support long after job placement. Support services can include training on techniques for succesful job retention, advocacy and support in regard to communicating with supervisors, and any additional collaboration that is needed along the way. Once consumers are comfortable in their new employment placement, staff members are typically in contact on a biweekly or monthly basis.
"I like the flexibility at Chrysalis. Staff consistently treat me respectfully and are really flexible and laid back. The staff I work with really go the extra mile for me." -Chrysalis Consumer
* The only criterion to participate in our program is that you must have a primary mental health (Axis I) diagnosis.
