Past Events
Since 1980, Chrysalis has been involved with the Madison community by hosting charitable events, winning prestigious awards and donating time and resources.
After providing service to more than 900 area veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States gave Chrysalis an award for it's "continuous distinguished service" for promoting the rehabilitation goals of veterans who have long-term mental illness.
Given by the State Assembly, Chrysalis was commended for its extraordinary commitment to serving over 125 Dante County clients per year. Representatives Spencer Black, Scott R. Jensen and Stephen J. Freese all signed the citation.
Through its John A. Johnson Foundation, the Madison Community Foundation provided a grant to fund building renovations (painting, shelving), office equipment (copy machine) and technological advancements (computers & networking).
Chrysalis had two excellent and knowledgeable volunteers from the Dane Net “IT Day of Service” At the end of a very long day, we had five computers set-up and networked to a server, and we had DSL up and running!!! Chrysalis was officially welcomed into the 21st Century!
Every year Chrysalis holds a holiday party to celebrate the great accomplishments of our consumers. This year the party was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church. We had food, music, a raffle, award certificates and most importantly, good company & conversation. All of our food and raffle prizes were donated by area businesses.
Five of our Work Center volunteers won the "Someone Special Volunteer Award." They were chosen because of the enormous amount of time, dedication, and service have provided for the Madison community.
This year, six people volunteered on behalf of Chrysalis at Bratfest. We helped sell brats, check bikes, and wash towels and aprons. Bratfest donated about $250- to Chrysalis in return for our volunteer efforts. It was great fun and will be a yearly event/fundraiser for Chrysalis!
Chrysalis was selected to receive one of Insty Prints first FOOTPRINT funds. We were awarded $1,000- worth of print services! Funds will print brochures and our first ever annual report!
A wonderful, four-page feature article was written in the August Issue of the magazine which highlighted our programs, services, staff, consumers, culture, and environment.
Pete Lundberg mentioned Chrysalis in a column he writes for Brava magazine that focused on art and mental illnesses. A painting was also auctioned off at the Janus gallery with proceeds to benefit Chrysalis.
This year, the event was held at Tenney Park for our consumers and staff. Lots of fun was had by all; we had delicious food and a very successful raffle.
Chrysalis staff and consumers spent the day talking to members of our community about the work we do and handed out brochures and other program information
Many Chrysalis friends, advocates, project providers, and new-comers joined for an afternoon gathering to celebrate our successes and to show their support for the Chrysalis future! The event was held at Rep. Spencer Black's home and was an unbelievable success; we garnered over $5,000!
Chrysalis teamed up with Madison Hours, another Community Shares of Wisconsin member agency, for the 'Organic Vegan Pancake Feed' to make pancakes, have fun, and raise some money! Look for this again each summer!
